Welcome to The 2024 Midwifery Forward presented by the ACNM Ohio Affiliate!

We are so glad you are here.

Over the next 3 days, we have prepared an event that is dedicated to supporting your power, purpose and passion so you can..

  • Reconnect with fellow midwives
  • Learn practice updates
  • Obtain continuing education credit

During this conference, you will have the opportunity to learn from and reconnect with Midwives, Nurse Practitioners  and Women’s Health Professionals from many of our leading Ohio healthcare organizations.

We hope you enjoy the continuing education, including content on pharmacology and Ohio law, as well as the opportunity to network,  laugh and reconnect with friends and colleagues.

Meeting Your Needs

Please nourish your body with food and feed your soul with rest. Pause as you need to do so. Should you require any additional snacks or beverages during your stay, please contact the front desk for the available dining options.

Check-In & Check-Out

Check-in for your hotel room begins at 3 PM. Check-out is at 12PM. Please inquire at the front desk for early check-in or late check-out, if desired.

Staying on Schedule

The Planning Committee kindly asks that you are respectful of your fellow attendees so as to create an exceptional experience for all. Be in your seat at the start of each session to ensure that we start and end on time without disruption. Please see the schedule on the following pages for more details on the content and speakers.

Cell Phones

Please silence cell phones and pagers when we are in session to avoid any unnecessary disruptions. 

WIFI

WIFI access is available to you during your stay. Please see a Forward Planning Committee member if you have any questions.

Massage

Chair and table massages will be available from three local LMTs. The cost is $75/hour for table massage located in the hospitality suite or $2/minute for chair massage located in the main conference room. Sign-up with the QR code at the main registration table.

Kamilah Dixon, MD, MA

Dr. Kamilah Dixon is an Assistant Professor of Ob-Gyn at The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center where she serves as the Vice Chair of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and the Medical Director of Moms2B.  She is committed to ensuring that all have access to the very best care. She is a member of the Pregnancy Associated Mortality Review Committee, and serves as a clinical advisor for the Ohio AIM Maternal Safety Hypertension project in the health equity committee. She completed her undergraduate studies at Harvard University with a degree in Biology. She then went on to teach High School Biology with Teach for America in Washington, DC. She completed her medical training at Georgetown School of Medicine and her residency training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston where she served as administrative chief resident in her final year of training. She has also worked as a medical director of women’s services at a FQHC in Richmond, Texas and an Assistant Professor of Ob-Gyn at University of Illinois in Peoria.

Ann Konkoly, MBA, MSN, APRN-CNM

Ann Konkoly is Ann Konkoly is a Certified Nurse-Midwife, Certified Life & Business Coach and the Founder of Authentic Koaching LLC. Ann helps Nurses live the good life so they can do good work in the world and do well for themselves in her group coaching program and  podcast called Nurses Living the Good Life. Ann’s work honors her purpose: To change the world: By Nurses. For Nurses. 

Barbara Katz Rothman, PhD

Barbara Katz Rothman is a Professor of Sociology, Public Health, Disability Studies and Women’s Studies at the City University of New York. She is Past President of Sociologists for Women in Society; the Society for the Study of Social Problems, and the Eastern Sociological Society. She was the Fulbright-Saastamoinen Foundation Distinguished Chair in Health Sciences 2018-2019, and is proud recipient of an award for “Midwifing the Movement” from the Midwives Alliance of North America.

Jeana Singleton, JD

Jeana Singleton has a national healthcare law practice focusing on healthcare operational matters, including state and federal regulatory compliance, healthcare transactions, healthcare policy, public health initiatives, corporate law, and business-legal strategy. Jeana has particular expertise in working with Ohio APRNs. She serves as counsel for both the Ohio Association of Advanced Practice Nurses and the Ohio State Association of Nurse Anesthetists.

Laura Valle, DNP, APRN-CNM, NCMP

Laura Valle is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Practice at The Ohio State University and a locum midwife at Pomerene Hospital. She is also the owner practitioner of Willow Women’s Health in Dayton, Ohio, one of three NAMS certified menopause practitioners in the area, specializing in hormones, hormonal therapy, perimenopause and menopause, routine and problem gynecology, sexual health, and trauma informed care.
